Fred Perry x Kix Box – Released 01.06.2018
Fred Perry and Kixbox mark their tenth year in partnership, collaborating on a limited release leather tennis shoe.
With their first shop opening in 2006, Kixbox have built a reputation as one of Russia’s leading retailers of sport and streetwear. They work with a selection of carefully-curated brands from around the world, bringing together the best in niche and major labels.
With only 200 pairs made, the limited release looks to Fred Perry’s original B1 tennis shoe: as comfortable today on a football terrace or at a gig as it was on the tennis courts of the 1980s. Adopting the original sports silhouette and distinctive bowling detail on the toe, the colourway is inspired by the simplicity of early 20th century modernist architecture and design; an aesthetic which resonates with Kixbox’s style, as well as Fred Perry’s approach to sportswear. The lookbook was shot within one of the greatest modernist buildings in Russia – Vyborg Library, built by famous architect Alvar Aalto in 1935.
Made from a premium off-white leather, with tonal suede trims, the rubber gum sole and cork in-sock give the tennis shoe a subtle rework. Kixbox add their distinctive branding, with a lasered ‘x’ at the heel and coded label on the tongue, which references the date the shoe was made.
